🧬 Early Life
Subutai (also spelled Subedei) was born around 1175 in Mongolia. Unlike many Mongol leaders, he was not born into a royal family. His father was a blacksmith, and his family belonged to a small tribe that served the Mongol rulers.
When Subutai was young, he joined the army of Genghis Khan. Because of his intelligence, loyalty, and military talent, he quickly gained the trust of the Mongol leader.
Subutai became one of the famous “Four Dogs of War”, the four greatest generals who helped Genghis Khan conquer large parts of Asia.
